No Ordinary "Walk in the Park"

Oxfam (Oxford Committee for Famine Relief) Trailwalker is one of the largest fundraising sporting events in Hong Kong. For 2005, teams of four walked the punishing 100-km MacLehose Trail, organized by Oxfam Hong Kong.

Participants form a team of four and try to complete the trail within a 48 hour time limit. Crown provided HK$10,000 as a cash sponsor for a “special team.” Crown also supplied a van with a support team. The team prepared drinks and snacks for participants at specific check points. The Crown team wore their colors and finished the event in 31 hours and 35 minutes.

With more than 3,200 participants in 2005, Oxfam Hong Kong hopes to raise HK$19 million for this year’s event. Since 1986, more than 46,000 participants have raised over HK$200 million to support Oxfam’s various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia.
