Hong Kong Like most international cities, Christmas is one of the most popular festivals in Hong Kong. People take this opportunity to gather with their families and friends, exchange gifts, socialize and enjoy meals. People send Christmas cards, many of which are elaborately decorated to show their artistic side, which delight their loved ones. Homes and churches are decorated with Poinsettias, Nativity scenes and the Chinese Alphabet printed on paper chains. Santa Claus is often known as “Lan Khoong” or “Dun Che Lao Ren.” He and his reindeer, are a surprising yet welcome addition to Hong Kong. In the city centers and coastal line of Victoria Harbour (most of them are in Central & Tsim Sha Tsui), all of the main buildings and streets are decorated with creatively designed lights. People go there to take photos and take in the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong. Hong Kong WinterFest is a huge event that is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The heart of Hong Kong’s central business district is transformed into a magical Santa's Town crowned with a dazzling Christmas tree that can be seen from across the harbour. Different Santa-themed settings offer activities for everyone, especially the kids, while lovers can head straight for Mistletoe Boulevard! |
