Crown Helps Save the Children

Employees from a variety of Crown's worldwide offices recently joined together to knit infant caps for a special fundraiser run by the Save the Children Foundation. Save the Children will be distributing the knitted caps to areas of the world with the highest infant death mortality rates, along with informational packets designed to educate parents on the key health needs of infants.

More than 100 infant caps were knitted by Crown employees and sent to the foundation's Westport, Connecticut office during the first week of January. Many of the participants were from various U.S. offices, but employees from other continents also contributed, including Annerose Matsushita from Crown's Global Mobility Services office in Tokyo.

Diane Mackeprang of the Westport, Connecticut office sent these caps into the Save the Children Foundation.

"With each hat I made, it seemed hard to believe that something so simple, so satisfying and inexpensive could help provide something as immeasurable as increasing the survival rate of a newborn," said Project Manager Diane Mackeprang of Crown's Westport, Connecticut facility. Diane, who first read about the cap drive in her local newspaper, was not only instrumental in getting her Westport office involved, but employees from the various Crown offices involved in the knitting drive.

Crown Regional Director for GMS Americas, Carmella Elletson was one of many Crown employees who responded to the information Diane provided coworkers. "I think it is admirable that people took the time out of their busy lives to support a very worthy cause" said Carmella, who knitted a dozen or so caps for the program. "I am very proud of Diane for bringing this fundraiser to my attention and of all the employees who participated."

Crown has partnered with Save the Children in the past and currently serves as Save the Children's relocation company, providing household good shipments and relocation services to staff and volunteers from around the world.
