| When Bob Wheeler recently
went to New Zealand from the U.K. for a well-earned holiday, he
thought he could leave behind the stresses associated with work
and just relax for a couple of weeks. But when he stopped in Arthur's
Pass (in the central South Island) to take a photo of the Otira
Viaduct, he was instantly transported back to the U.K. Because on
the bridge, and in the middle of his photo, was a bright red, Crown
truck!

Mr. Wheeler works for Marata Vision, distributors
of high-spec projection systems for home cinemas and corporate boardrooms,
a client of Crown Logistics. He sent his photo to Alan Howe, U.K.
Director of Crown Logistics with the message "There's no getting
away from you guys - even when I'm on holiday in New Zealand!"
The Otira Viaduct winds its way high through the huge
mountains of the Southern Alps, joining Westland and Canterbury
in New Zealand. Since the road is located in the mountains, a portion
of State Highway 37 was highly prone to rockfall, snow avalanches
and landslides. It was decided that a new section of road was needed.
The engineers decided to build a long, unusual type of bridge, the
Otira Viaduct!
Mr. Wheeler's picture inspired the team at Crown to
sponsor a Photo Contest and begin a search for interesting and fun
images of Crown trucks as they roll through the hills and streets
around the world.
