ALFRED DUNHILL CHOOSES CROWN FOR LOGISTICS IN CHINA
The Crown logistics team has added Alfred Dunhill, a British-based organization that distributes and sells merchandise around the world, to their client list.
HONG KONG, December 4, 2007 -- Crown Logistics, a leading provider of freight forwarding, energy logistics and third-party distribution is now providing warehousing and logistics services in Hong Kong for Alfred Dunhill.
Alfred Dunhill is a truly British brand that unashamedly dedicates itself to the pursuit of male indulgence. Since 1893, Alfred Dunhill has been creating exceptional luxury goods for men, specializing in menswear and leather goods, complemented by accessories.
Alfred Dunhill is part of Richemont, which is one of the world’s leading luxury-goods groups. Richemont encompasses several of the most prestigious names in the luxury industry including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Chloé and Piaget.
Between June and July 2007, logistics teams of Crown Worldwide and of Richemont built a world-class, Global Distribution Center (GDC) in the Crown Worldwide building, in Hong Kong.
The GDC is a 45,000-square-foot facility designed specifically to provide third-party logistics services to Alfred Dunhill.
It boasts a capacity of 4,500 cubic meters (almost 160,000 cubic feet), has the capacity to hold 2,961pallets and features 625 bays. It also features new racking and shelving systems with advanced technology including a state-of-the-art “Wireless Warehouse Management System” (WMS) with a maximum throughput of 250 shipments per day.
Analdo Li, general manager of Crown Logistics in Hong Kong commented, “The client teams at Richemont and Dunhill have been true partners providing the highest level of support. The transition process was prepared in advance to ensure that the products were transported from the existing facilities in London and Hong Kong to the GDC in a very disciplined and orderly manner. This has enabled the Crown team to perform their tasks without disruption.”
With the GDC now open for business, the Crown Logistics team receives Alfred Dunhill merchandise as it arrives in Hong Kong, provides storage and distributes the products. When the merchandise arrives, the team performs quality checks and records all transactions with bar-code scanners. The merchandise is distributed, as-needed to Alfred Dunhill outlets and retailers in Hong Kong, China and other Asian countries.
