A Season to be Thankful

Crown is very proud of its efforts to help the needy children of Cambodia. Crown’s first project was the building, in 2007, of a school building in a rural village. That project provided a new school building for 1,000 children living in this remote area of Cambodia. In 2009, Crown funded the construction of a second school building. This school is unique because it integrates over 100 HIV positive children–many of them orphans.

During the construction of the two new school buildings, Crown worked closely with the Little Sprouts and Little Folks organizations. These are charitable projects run by the Maryknoll Society that help the children receive medication, school uniforms, supplies and other necessities to help them build sustainable lives. Some of the students drew pictures and shared them with Crown. Their pictures represent both what they are grateful for and ways to say thank you. Crown compiled their lovely drawings into its 2009 Holiday Card, which is sent to Crown’s clients and friends around the world.

One of the Sisters from the Maryknoll Society noted, "The picture of the child giving a flower garland is a way of showing respect and appreciation; so are the ones with the flowers in baskets. Flowers are very often given as signs of appreciation and gratitude.

"Most of the other pictures are of things they are grateful for. Even though these are children from the city they often depict rural settings in their drawings. The farms, fields, flowers, birds and animals are all things they are thankful for as well.
