Crown Dubai's Air to Water Project
Crown, an international relocations, moving services company, specializing in moving and storage, private and corporate relocation services, reinforces its core vale of contributing to its communities by implementing a new sustainable water filtration process to produce fresh water.
As the population in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rises, so does the need for natural resources that may already be in short supply. The majority of the ground surface in the UAE is a sand desert. In such arid environment with low level of rainfalls, water is scarce and very valuable.
Tackling the issue of scarce water resources head on, Simy Mathews, corporate social responsibility—Middle East region, contacted Liquid of Life, a company providing economical solutions to water filtration through use of an "air-to-water" system. The system taps into the air, pulling moisture to produce fresh water. Crown Dubai also added the Pi water filter, a specialized filter which offers health benefits. It produces bio-water, or "living body water," and reduce the amount of energy needed in the human body to convert water for absorption as well as creating a smoother taste.
This new system reinforces "Destination Green" initiatives, Crown's environmental program aiming at creating awareness and supporting preservation of the environment. It reduces the cost of buying drinking water, waste in terms of plastic bottles, and the amount of water needed to be desalinated. There is also no transportation of water, therefore no carbon footprint required as in delivering of bottled water. According to Simy, future plans will include the installation of this system in all of the Middle East offices.
