Crown UK Continues Support for PATT
Crown, an international relocations and moving services company, specializing in moving and storage, private and corporate relocation services, partnered with the Plant-A-Tree-Today Foundation (PATT) in 2008 through its offices in the United Kingdom. The shared goal is to combat climate change and provide economic, social and environmental sustainability through community based forestry projects in developing countries.
Crown UK is thrilled to announce that in an attempt to offset the 3,000 or so tons of CO2 created by Crown UK in 2010, a tree- planting project is planned for Thailand, this year, where approximately 5,000 new trees will be planted. Crown donated £11,000 (US$18,000) to PATT and it was presented to company representatives who visited the Crown office earlier in the year.
Through the PATT foundation, and as part of Crown UK's charity initiative and ongoing "Destination Green" commitment, Crown has been involved in the planting of more than 2,200 trees in Thailand and has managed to offset more than 1,800 tons of carbon.
These projects benefit the rural Thai communities as well because the residents earn money in exchange for planting, protecting and maintaining the trees. This will result in ongoing benefits for the community as a whole, for current and future generations.
PATT UK's country manager, Debra Coombs, expressed delight and gratitude for working with Crown. "We need global organizations like Crown to step forward and demonstrate real commitment to tackling climate change." She added, "what moved PATT was the real interest Crown and its employees have shown in our projects impacting poor communities where we plant the trees."
