Alfred Dunhill Chooses Crown for Logistics in China

Dunhill

Alfred Dunhill is a truly British brand that unashamedly dedicates itself to the pursuit of male indulgence. Since 1893, Alfred Dunhill has been creating exceptional luxury goods for men, specializing in menswear and leather goods, complemented by accessories. Alfred Dunhill is part of Richemont, which is one of the world’s leading luxury goods groups. Richemont encompasses several of the most prestigious names in the luxury industry including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-leCoultre, IWC, Chloé and Piaget.

When Alfred Dunhill was looking for a logistics company to help them manage and distribute their merchandise in Greater China, they called on Crown Logistics. Thrilled to be involved with such a prestigious brand, the Crown Hong Kong team immediately went to work building a facility. Between June and July 2007, the logistics teams of Richemont and Crown Worldwide built a world class, Global Distribution Center (Global DC) in the Crown Worldwide building, in Hong Kong: a 45,000 square foot facility designed specifically to provide third-party logistics services to Alfred Dunhill.

With the Global DC now open for business, the Crown logistics team receives Alfred Dunhill merchandise as it arrives in Hong Kong, provides storage and delivers the products. When the merchandise arrives, the team performs quality checks and records all the transactions with barcode scanners. The merchandise is distributed, as-needed to Alfred Dunhill outlets and retailers in Hong Kong, China and other Asian countries.

The Global DC boasts 4,500 cubic meters (almost 160,000 cubic feet) of space, has the capacity to hold 2,961 pallets and features 625 bays. It also features new racking and shelving systems with advanced technology including a state-of-the-art “Wireless Warehouse Management System” (WMS) with a maximum throughput of 250 shipments per day.

Congratulations to Analdo Li, general manager for Crown's logistics division in Hong Kong and his team, on the completion of a successful implementation.
