A Message from Crown Worldwide Chairman, Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson

One of the proudest moments in Crown’s long history took place on October 18, 2007 when we officially opened our majestic new "Ultracenter" in Beijing. I’m normally quite humble about the accomplishments at Crown but this particular building in one of the most important cities in the world, has truly set a new standard for our industry. You can read a more detailed description of the Ultracenter in this issue but we hope many of our friends and clients will visit us in Beijing to see the unique features of this very special Crown building.

I’m particularly pleased that the 1958 BSA motorcycle that I bought in London when I traveled there as a student is now on display at this facility. It was on this motorcycle that I began to see the world and realized that I would like to work outside my home country. I did that in the 1960’s and the result has been the formation and continual growth of the Crown Group–now operating in 51 countries and 230 locations around the world.

I’m equally proud of our Crown staff around the world for their contribution to good causes in the cities in which we operate. These contributions are not simply sending donations but actual participation in the charitable work we support. We’ve helped with many, many causes relating to cancer, children, education, HIV/AIDS, the environment and others. Our Crown team around the world takes the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and they have done so for a long time. These good people contribute their time and effort voluntarily and you will see a few examples of their involvement in this issue. This is certainly a source of great pride for me.

We all know that our continued success is due to the confidence our valuable customers have shown in us. We sincerely thank you for that and pledge to continue to be the best in our industry.
