Sharing Global Relocation Trends with Female Expats in Korea

Norah Franchetti at
FAWCO’s first Asian Conference

Following Crown’s renewed status as a Gold sponsor of the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO), Crown’s group vice president of training and development, Norah Franchetti, was invited to present at FAWCO’s first Asian Conference held in Seoul, Korea –Dynamic Korea: Global Impact.

The FAWCO conference is an annual event, which this year finally made its way to Asia. Attendees included FAWCO delegates such as presidents and board members of the worldwide American Women’s’ Clubs. Susanne Osterholm, regional marketing manager, APAC, also attended the conference to network amongst this very professional group.

Following a review of world relocation trends, Norah shared some strategies used by Crown Relocations. Norah pointed out that there are 300,000 U.S. citizens currently living abroad–double the number of a decade ago. She added that a primary goal is to reach out to this new expatriate market and attract new members, which is becoming a challenge for the clubs as expatriate demographics have been changing over the last few years, including a trend of more frequent short-term assignments. FAWCO’s First President, Kathleen Simon, offered her thanks to Norah. “On behalf of all of us at FAWCO, I want to extend my sincere thanks to you for joining us in Seoul, Korea for our 2008 Conference. Thank you for all the extra time you took to speak individually with conference attendees.”

FAWCO is an international network with a combined membership of nearly 18,000. The organization supports members living and working abroad and is active with issues relating to Americans overseas, including education, environmental awareness, health, human rights, and women’s and children’s rights. Many of Crown’s branches are involved with women’s associations and other charitable and non-profit groups around the world. Kathy Scalabre, branch manager for Crown Nice (former country manager for Crown Korea) commented, “American women abroad, whether an expat or living permanently abroad, whether married to a foreigner or not, need to stay connected to a community where they share a common deep appreciation of America and its culture. FAWCO provides that network for them. Crown’s relationship with FAWCO provides exposure to almost 20,000 American families who are involved with FAWCO.”
