A Message from Crown Worldwide Chairman, Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson

Despite the global economic problems related to the price of oil, food and other commodities, business expansion around the world seems to continue. The process of globalization results in companies seeking new markets for their products as well as new sources of energy and supply. Crown is continuing to handle transfers of the increasing number of families that move around the world and we’re developing new innovative ways to introduce them to their new overseas homes. We know the importance of families settling in quickly and enjoying their overseas assignments and we are determined to do our part to help with this process.

We are also continuing to develop world-class facilities to protect the valuable goods we are asked to store for our valued clients and in this issue you will see some of the newest facilities in our network. Our strategy calls for the development of these facilities all over the world. We want our clients to recognize our high standards wherever they might seek to use our services. We have six to seven new warehouse/office complexes under construction at any given time as we continue to develop our global network of the very best structures around the world. We plan to continue this development program indefinitely.

The continuing growth of Crown also allows us to give back to the communities we serve and in this issue of The Global Connection we mention some of the ways we’re able to do that. Since we operate in most parts of the world, we see the needs of people that are less fortunate than our clients. Because of that, we try to insure that some of our profit makes its way to people in need and this has become part of the Crown culture. Members of our staff all over the world give their time and money to make an effort to help their local communities. We call our program “Charity in Motion” and you will see a little of what we do in each issue of The Global Connection. We’re particularly pleased to be able to work with Vitamin Angels and support all the good work they do for children all over the world.

Our fine arts and wine cellaring businesses have also continued to grow. We’ve been handling numerous exhibits from our Paris office as well as major art fairs in the Middle East, Hong Kong and Shanghai with more to come. Our Beijing Wine Cellar opened recently and as you can see in this issue, it’s an excellent place for storing, tasting and enjoying great wine. Please come visit us if you’re in Beijing.

Crown was born 43 years ago and in that time we’ve accomplished a lot. We hope our readers will forgive us if we tell you of our growth and expansion through our periodic newsletter – The Global Connection. It’s all very exciting to us and we hope in some small way you will share our excitement about our global development.
