An Industrious Decade in India

This year Crown India Celebrates its 10th Anniversary!

It was in 1998 when Crown opened its first office in Mumbai….

…and it was in 2008--one industrious decade later--when Crown held a ground breaking event to celebrate the construction of a brand new, state-of-the art building in Mumbai, scheduled for completion in early 2009.

Over the 10 years, Crown has continued to grow and establish its network across India. There are now branches strategically located across the country with three main hubs in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

After its first four years in business, Crown India had already opened seven facilities in five cities and acquired an expansive fleet of vehicles, in addition to having developed a nationwide records management division with over 100,000 cartons in storage. In fact, last year, they were inducted into Crown’s “One Million Carton Club,” after securing over a million records management cartons in storage–a number that continues to increase day by day.

In 2002, the Kolkata branch opened for business, and today, is considered one of Crown’s most successful branches. Another highlight came in 2006, when ES Chandramouli, managing director for South Asia, was presented with Crown’s prestigious “Chairman’s Award” for his industrious work ethic and the outstanding achievements that followed.

In 2007, Crown India expanded to Pune, one of the fastest growing cities in India. Pune has emerged as one of the most vibrant new metropolitan centers in Western India. It is known for having several esteemed educational institutions– one reason it is often referred to as the “Oxford of the East.”

Looking Forward

Crown India recently launched Global Passport®--a unique intercultural training program provided by Crown Asia-Pacific. The team held its first Global Passport® seminars in Bangalore and Delhi, where human resource professionals participated in activities to help them understand how international assignees learn and adapt to different cultures.

ES Chandramouli commented, “over the last five years, our clients have been demanding more mobility services and cross cultural training. This year’s launch of Global Passport® was very highly received and we now offer this as part of our regular portfolio. We’ve seen demand for both incoming and outgoing assignees, who are participating and benefiting from our Global Passport® program.” Next year will see the grand opening of India’s first state-of-the-art facility in the Taloja district, in Navi Mumbai. A ground-breaking ceremony was held on March 13, 2008 to celebrate the commencement of the construction. A “bhumi-Poojan” (a “prayer for land”) was held in a “Mandap” (a “special tent”).

ES Chandramouli noted, “ten years ago the relocation industry in India was very unstructured with limited knowledge. The corporate perspective of relocations was simply moving from ‘point to point.’ Crown changed the way the industry was perceived. Providing high quality service became the main focus and the primary criteria for selecting a service provider. Crown Relocations has grown in leaps and today has a robust network with more than 250 employees.”

Crown is the only wholly-owned global relocation company in India, making it ideally qualified to help businesses and individuals with their relocation needs.
