Each year, the prestigious Chairman's Award is presented to the person who best exemplifies the ideals of the company. The Group considers factors that include support for other offices in the Crown family, creativity in the development of the region that the recipient manages and achievement of the quality objectives each branch strives for. One major aspect in the selection of the winner of the Chairman's Award has been that of commitment and David has shown that over and over in his words and actions.

David has managed two of the three regions–the Americas and EMEA–of the Crown world and has promoted Crown's growth and expansion in both regions. In his current role as Executive Board member and CEO of the EMEA region he has steadily expanded Crown’s presence in cities and countries of EMEA at a pace of four or five locations per year.

Crown's chairman, Jim Thompson, said of Muir, "Throughout David's years with the company he has been one of the most enthusiastic crusaders of the development of Crown around the world. He is an enthusiastic and effective speaker at conferences and other events and regularly uses those speaking platforms to promote the development of Crown to important client audiences. David participates in corporate presentations throughout the world and has taken the EMEA region to a high level of steady growth. He has religiously developed the Crown brand throughout this very large part of the world."

Crown's chairman Jim Thompson presented the award and made the following comments. "Any effort requiring more than one person is best made when the people involved work as one--as a team. In sports, in a symphony orchestra or in business, the best results come from those who are able to work hand in hand to achieve the objective needed.

"I believe strongly that what we have achieved at Crown is due to the fact that we have continued to help each other around the world and support each other. Any company that can develop teamwork as a basic part of their culture should do well. So, each year, we have been identifying a person who epitomizes teamwork--the person who has worked extremely well with his or her colleagues to achieve the results we seek, to meet the company's objectives.

"Jill very effectively works with offices all over the world to further develop a strong GMS position for Crown. This effort requires working with numerous offices and individuals to help them establish GMS teams that can perform at a very high level. While Jill has been relentless in developing skills and high standards of service, she has constantly worked with managers and staff to explain the finer points of the service required by our clients.

"Because of her dedication to making Crown a major player in GMS activity and her determination to help many Crown offices become very good at this work, Jill Bedford was chosen to receive the Teamwork award."
