Environmental Action Award: United Kingdom
The Crown Worldwide Group recently presented the 2008 Award for "environmental action" to Crown United Kingdom.
The team's environmental efforts are led by safety, health, environment and quality compliance manager, Steve Slade. Among his many achievements in this area, Slade led Crown to its first ISO 14001 environmental accreditation, which included creating an original environmental policy to adopt responsible practices in various aspects of Crown's businesses. Always striving to make Crown more environmentally responsible, Slade continues to introduce new initiatives including ongoing "Lights Out" schedules and a new tree-planting program to offset carbon emissions created by moving services.
UK & Ireland managing director Barry Koolen is very proud of Steve's achievements. "At the Jakarta meeting Crown UK was recognized as a company leader in tackling environmental issues. This is down Steve's efforts to get our environmental practices in place. His personal commitment has been exceptional and I was very proud to see him receive this award."
