The Crown team in Scotland has been busy supporting their local community. Their 2009 chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, helps improve the lives of people living with cancer and their families.

Unfortunately cancer is an all-too-common illness, with one in three people in the UK likely to get the disease at some stage in their life. Macmillan is both a source of support and a force for change, providing practical medical, emotional and financial support.

Aiming to raise as much money for the charity as possible, the Crown Scotland team organized "Tour de Crown," an event that took place over four consecutive Fridays in May and June. It involved cycling the equivalent distance of 699 miles (1,125km) from Crown Aberdeen (in northern Scotland) to Crown London (in southern England), via each of the Crown offices, on static exercise bikes.

After much hard work, sweat and sore muscles, the team completed their challenge with time to spare. And in the process they managed to raise over £1,000 (US $1,625)! To learn more about Macmillan Cancer Support, visit their website at www.macmillan.org.uk.
