Shanghai Doubles its Success

The Crown Shanghai facility is now twice the size, at 18,000 square meters (almost 200,000 square feet), and has many new features which provide a full range of services including moving, relocation services, storage, fine arts, records management as well as third party distribution logistics for hotels and retailers.

The facility features a Regional Distribution Center which provides warehousing, inventory management and nationwide distribution serving clients such as Fendi of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), L’Occitane. Fancl House and Giorgio Armani. A Wine Cellar was also incorporated into the building, which joins Crown’s Wine Cellars in Hong Kong and Beijing.

A celebration was held on September 25, 2009, at Crown Shanghai Wine Cellars for approximately 180 guests. Crown guests included Billy Wong, Jimmy Thompson, Sherry Liu, Analdo Li, Tze Shen Kong, Scott Piusz and Stanley Ho—project manager for the new facility. Notable VIP clients included John and Stacey Niermann (EA), Ashok and Sonia Kapoor (APAC HRD Black and Decker), Joseph Hogan (CSO US Consulate) and Sally Wang (TESCO), who was the grand prize winner of the event’s raffle!

They enjoyed the artwork and paintings displayed throughout the area, a running presentation of Crown and its business divisions, and had a master of ceremonies deliver the program in both English and Chinese. The attendees were given Guest "Passports," containing, among other things, information on Crown and its Corporate Social Responsibility program. In the later stage of the evening, the lights were dimmed and everyone was entertained with a fashion show. It was a spectacular evening of great branding and networking.

Jim Thompson addressed the guests and declared the facility officially opened for business. He said of the festivities, "It was a wonderful evening and I think it did a lot to further the image of Crown Shanghai and Crown China with all the guests. We showed how the cellars can be used for a variety of functions and I know this will enhance our image in Shanghai."

Billy Wong, managing director for Crown Greater China, expressed his pride and gratitude saying, "I’d like to thank all who were involved, particularly Scott Piusz and the entire project team for their dedication and extraordinary efforts in making the grand opening of Shanghai’s Phase II a success. It was a great evening and I am sure that it will be a memorable event for everyone who attended. I believe we have achieved our objective of letting people know what we are capable of in the Shanghai market by showcasing our world-class facility.

"The opening of Crown’s third distribution center in Shanghai signifies our group’s commitment to our clients in the China market, and paves the way for further expansion in tertiary cities in central and north western China. We believe that our state-of-the-art facilities in China will serve the needs of high-demand users looking for cost efficiency and high-quality logistics solutions."

Scott Piusz, general manager of Shanghai’s moving division added, "This grand opening of Crown Shanghai’s Phase II facility is a perfect example of what we are striving to achieve. We are using our unique facilities and newly established niche logistics divisions to create a community that brings professionals from all fields together."
