Preparing For Your Move
Your Pre-move Consultation
During your Pre-move Consultation, your Crown Consultant will explain the entire process and inform you about all of the services that are available to help you prepare and plan your entire move:
- Packing
- Transportation and storage options
- Special requirements for pets, vehicles, fragile items, etc.
- Transit protection
- Crown’s Online Tracking System
Your Crown Consultant will help you choose the service delivery that best meets your needs, explain what to expect when you arrive at your new destination and answer all of your questions. Together, you will choose and schedule your packing and loading day(s).
Learning About Your Destination
Before Crown packs any of your possessions, you will probably have many questions. Crown offers a range of tools to help you find out about the place you are moving to.
- "Settling-In Tips" provides useful advice from Crown professionals who live in different cities around the world, including information about transportation, schools, shopping, accommodations, banking and much more. “Settling-In Tips” for 100 different cities are available here.
- Our professional Move Management Teams will be available to answer your questions and assist you with every step of the relocation. You can also review our "Steps to Relocating" and "A Moving Checklist."
- Children’s Program: Moving to a new place can be especially stressful for children, which is why Crown has an extensive program to assist parents and children through the transition. Crown’s "Kids Connection" Website, www.crownrelo.com/kids, helps children learn all about different cities and the overall moving process. The website is just one component of Crown's official Children’s Program, which includes a book "My Moving Memories," Children’s Guides written by children living in different cities around the world and more.
Your Packing Day
On Your Packing Day, your Crew Supervisor will confirm all the details that were discussed during your Pre-move Consultation to ensure that you have access to important items during your relocation – important documents, clothing, toiletries and other essentials should be set aside. Find a special location for these items and alert your Crew Supervisor that these items should not be packed.
Color Locator System
You will see Crown’s crew applying colored stickers to the cartons as they are being packed. This unique color locator system matches packages with rooms, effectively organizing the packing and transportation of your home. Color-coded cards, hung on doors at the destination residence, are matched to like-colored stickers on cartons, simplifying the delivery and unpacking process.
Packing Inventory Sheet
As your personal belongings are carefully wrapped and packed, your Crew Supervisor will note each item on a “Packing Inventory Sheet.” Once all items have been removed from your home, packed and loaded into the moving van, they will be numbered and will appear on the packing inventory list. This inventory is a working document from your previous home to your new location.
