Museum: The National Gallery

The National Gallery, London houses one of the greatest collections of European paintings in the world. These pictures belong to the public and entrance to see them is free.

The paintings can be used to enrich learning in every area of a school’s Curriculum including art. A visit to the Gallery will encourage kids to learn how to read and enjoy looking at paintings, and show them how paintings can link with other subjects, and with their own experiences.

The museum offers the Art Action Zone, featuring “Noisy Painting” on its website at: www.nationalgallery.org.uk.

Free events for families and children at the Museum include Magic Carpet Storytelling, Practical Art Workshops and Weekend Family Talks, which explore some of the paintings in the Gallery. The museum also offers free Gallery trails for kids.
