Once you have a bank account, you can easily exchange money at the ATM or through on line banking. Before then, money exchange bureaus can easily be found in every town and city.

Credit cards, local bank cards and cash.

Most major credit cards are accepted, but it is wise to carry cash when using local shops and bars.

By what method are bills (such as rent and utilities) paid? 
For rental payments and utilities, the best options are internet banking or making a standing order from your bank. Bill payments can be quite difficult for some foreigners as they are all printed in Turkish and often don't arrive on time or on some occasions at all. Some bills can be paid at the counter at selected local banks. However, the queues can be long and you’ll not want to repeat the experience too often! What are the requirements for opening a bank account?  At what stage of the settling-in process should I open it?
The bank will need your passport, work or residence permit and Turkish ID number to open a bank account. Until your address is registered with the district civil registration offices, banks will only provide limited services .

Will foreign residents be able to find banking services in their native languages?
Most Banks have internet banking, telephone banking and ATM services in English as well as Turkish. However, bank staff who work in the branch are likely to have very limited foreign language skills.

Are there any restrictions on services for those who are new to your country?
What are typical banking hours? 
9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday often with an hour closed for lunch. Some banks have a limited number of branches open on Saturday morning.
