Before I get sick, what should I know about seeking medical care in your city as an expat?
Once you get a Permit of Stay and your residence is registered, you can obtain a National Health Insurance Card or ASL (Tessera Sanitaria per l'Azienda Sanitaria Locale) and be covered under Italy's national health insurance scheme. With an ASL in your possession, you will not be refused medical treatment.
