You should have the routine childhood vaccinations, such mumps, rubella, measles, etc. For the annual period of the Hajj, Saudi Arabia requires that you get vaccinated for meningitis and influenza A (H1N1). The large crowds during this pilgrimage increase the risks associated with infectious diseases.

There are many good, modern medical facilities in Saudi Arabia with adequate medicine and good doctors for treating patients.

Referrals from expatriates already living in Saudi Arabia can be helpful. Alternatively, you can use your employer's Human Resources personnel.

No, there are adequate facilities and health care providers in the major cities of Saudi Arabia. Expats usually go to the following three hospitals. They are also recommended by the American the French and the British Embassy.

  • Kingdom Hospital
  • King Fahad medical city
  • National Guard Hospital

Note that these hospitals are considered expensive without acceptable health care coverage.
