Our major food outlets are Pick ‘n Pay, Hyperama, Checkers and Spar. They are situated in shopping centers throughout KwaZulu-Natal.

Where can other household items (such as cleaning materials and home furnishings) be found?
Cleaning materials can be purchased in all of the above stores. Home furnishings are available in a variety of stores. Some of the better known stores are: Joshua Doore, Bears, Furniture City and House and Home.

What are factors that might affect my shopping habits in this country/city?
Shoppers are required to either purchase or provide their own shopping bags. KwaZulu-Natal has huge shopping centers to cater to all needs, retail outlets, hair salons, restaurants, coffee shops, cinemas, all major banks, stationery shops, etc. At the many excellent one-stop shopping centers, you can buy anything from photographic equipment to couture clothes and rare antiques. Flea markets and craft fairs attract leisurely browsers and discount stores offer quality merchandise at bargain basement prices. Not far off in the city center, oriental bazaars—fragrant with spice and incense—can be found offering silks, saris, unusual jewelry and ornaments.
