Several times a year, Crown organizes panel discussions on world mobility topics across Europe in cooperation with other prominent industry leaders, with the purpose of bringing workforce mobility experts together on a regular basis to share their combined knowledge and expertise of the mobility industry. The World Mobility Talk series has had great success, with high attendance from human resources and relocation professionals from many prominent companies. Among this year’s participants have been many notable international companies including Adecco, Novo Nordisk, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Credit Suisse, Sika, Swarovski, Swiss Re, Catlin Re, Capgemini, ADM International, Air France, Barclays Bank, Japan Tobacco International and PPG.

Each session has provided the participants a forum in which to share a wide breadth of industry knowledge and to discuss their views on current trends and other relevant topics of interest. All in attendance, including the panelists, have benefited from this networking opportunity to share and discuss workforce mobility challenges with other HR experts in Switzerland.

In 2012, Giovanni De Carlo, Business Development Director, and the Crown Switzerland teams have organized the World Mobility Talk sessions for the Greater Zurich area and the Greater Geneva area. Both events were organized in partnership with Ernst & Young’s Human Capital Consulting division and included speakers from Adecco and Nyrstar (Zurich) and Pictet Bank and Ferring (Geneva). The speakers discussed trends and practices around International Local Hire and Transfer Policies as applied in Switzerland.

The next session will take place on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Zunfthaus zur Waag, located in the city center of Zurich at Münsterhof 8. This session will include the panel discussion Deployment ManagementCreate Successfully International Personnel Assignments in Switzerland, with Prof. Dr. Iris Fischlmayr from the Institute for International Management, Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria and Mrs. Carmen Wey-Da Silvia, Director HR Operations Europe from Novo Nordisk. Giovanni De Carlo will moderate the panel discussion.

An interactive session is planned. All participants will have the opportunity to share their views with the audience on a variety of topics, such as possible selection processes, professional preparation and optimized support when repatriating.

ao. Univ. Prof. Dr. Iris Fischlmayr
Professor of International Management at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. Dr. Fischlmayr has over ten years of experience in the field of world mobility and intercultural management. She has been a prominent figure in the industry, a leading researcher and trend analyst in the field and a university-level instructor on overseas assignments, new forms of international staff deployment and its relationship to intercultural management. She also holds lectures, seminars and courses for audiences worldwide and supports topic-specific practical projects.
Fischlmayr is co-author of the newly published book from Linde International, The Professional International Assignment ("Die professionelle Auslandsentsendung").

Carmen Wey-Da Silva - Director HR Operations Europe
Carmen Wey-Da Silva is an expert in human resource (HR) management. Her past and current roles include that of an HR business partner and a specialist in an HR-IT field. She has helped many companies implement best practices in HR Management, develop and implement processes and tools to support talent development, enhance performance management, recruit, and evaluate and implement compensation and benefits schemes. In her roles on executive management teams, she has been able to focus on both strategic and tactical levels. Mrs. Wey-Da Silva’s experience in international environments with autonomous business units has allowed her to handle a high degree of HR complexity. She holds an Executive MBA and speaks fluent German, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

Giovanni started his career in the aviation industry, in which he worked for nearly 20 years in various roles. He has worked and lived in the UK, Austria, Spain, Geneva and Zurich, while managing business across Europe and Northern Africa. For the last 12 years, Giovanni has been acting as an executive in commercial and general management functions, which has allowed him to gain vast experience in managing people in multicultural and rapidly changing environments. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Zurich and an MBA degree from the Danube University of Krems in Austria. As Business Development Director Continental Europe for Crown Relocations, he continuously expands his knowledge by suggesting Global Mobility solutions for multinational companies and closely follows industry trends on a worldwide basis.
