What are the most popular neighborhoods in your city for expats?

Some of the popular neigbourhoods in the city are: Oesterbro, Copenhagen K, Islands Brygge, suburbs north of Copenhagen (ie., Hellerup, Gentofte etc.).

  • Oesterbro – see ‘what is special or unique about your city’
  • Copenhagen K - Downtown Copenhagen, close to "Stroeget" (a famous Danish pedestrian street), Nyhavn,Queens Palace, Tivoli and other tourist attractions. Downtown CPH also has a lot of shopping, restaurants and night life.
  • Islands Brygge - fantastic atmosphere, most buildings are recently restored, it has great recreational areas, 5 minutes by Metro to downtown Copenhagen and 10 minutes from the airport.
  • Suburbs north of Copenhagen - houses and apartments in these areas are extremely expensive and prestigious. Copenhagen International School is located in Hellerup.

For those expats who choose to live somewhat further outside the city, there are also terrific options close to water and nature. Almost all areas have easy access to public transportation to and from Copenhagen and the suburbs.
