Birmingham is a fantastic city for raising children and there are public changing rooms, many playgrounds (usually a couple within each neighbourhood) and loads of parks for children to play in.

What are the most popular kid-friendly attractions in the area?

Two great options are Cadbury World (a chocolate heaven for kids!) and Drayton Manor Park and Zoo (a great theme park.) There are also a large number of parks around the city that are fantastic for kids to play in. In addition, Stratford on Avon (the birthplace of Shakespeare and a town with loads for kids) is close by. Kids also love Alton Towers (a theme park with great rides) and Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Sports, going to the cinema and visiting shopping centres to meet friends are all popular. Football (soccer) is very popular in Birmingham, as there are premiership football and basketball teams. The city also has world-class sports facilities and athletics clubs.

Generally, Birmingham is a safe place for teenagers. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

The best sources of information for educating your child(ren) about Birmingham are tourist information offices, libraries and local schools. Many of the city's cultural events are scheduled to coincide with school summer holidays in late July/August.
