The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has revised the validity period for the 96-hour transit visa. The validity period is now 14 days from the issuance date to the applicant’s date of entry. The validity period for GCC residence visas is 30 days from the issuance date. Previously, the validity to date of entry for both categories was 60 days.
Transit passengers will receive a 96-hour visa at UAE airports, irrespective of the airline they are flying with, if they meet the following requirements:
- The duration between the two trips should not be less than eight hours
- The two trips should be to different destinations
- A hotel booking is mandatory
A 96-hour transit visa will be issued for four-day stays. The first day of arrival (until midnight) will be considered as day one. The exit must be completed before midnight on the fourth day.
These changes took effect on March 28, 2016
