Qingdao Shopping

What are the items that I should bring with me because they’re not available (or are too expensive) where I am going?
Deodorant is not available. Nor is dental floss and many kinds of breakfast cereal. Breakfast cereal that you do get is imported and hence very expensive.

Will anyone have particular trouble finding clothes that fit?
Tall women often have trouble buying pants and tops that are long enough. In addition, overweight people will also have difficulties buying clothing.

What are factors that might affect my shopping habits in this country/city?
Designer clothes are much more expensive in Qingdao. But on the whole, things are very cheap. You can buy great antique-style Chinese furniture in Qingdao. You can also have furniture custom made.

Low-fat dairy products are hard to find in the supermarket. You may also have trouble buying meat if you can't read Chinese.

Be prepared to bargain for everything (except in big shops). It is likely you will pay too much for something without knowing it once or twice while you are here.
