Bristol is a great place to raise children, with many playgrounds and lots of parkland for children to play in. In addition, there are plenty of public changing facilities available.

What are the most popular kid-friendly attractions in the area?

There are a number of attractions in the Bristol area for children, one of the biggest of which must be At-Bristol. Covering 11 acres of the Harbourside area, At-Bristol is a very unique venue covering science, nature and art, with plenty to keep the kids entertained. Also worth visiting is Bristol Zoo, which has a very good reputation and is in fact the fifth oldest zoo in the world.

What are the most popular activities for kids after school or on weekends?

Kids enjoy sports, going to the cinema and visiting shopping centers to meet friends.

What's it like to be a teenager in Bristol? Are there any particular challenges I should be aware of as a parent?

As a metropolitan city, teenagers are spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do. It is a hive of activity and is renowned for its active nightlife, however while it is a safe and friendly place parents should display the usual degree of cautiousness when moving to a new city.

Are there any organizations/social groups in the area that cater exclusively to young people ages 12-17?

Most areas have youth clubs. Your local school will be able to tell you about the youth clubs in your area. There are also Scouts and Girl Guides clubs for boys and girls. These groups offer adventures, amusements and activities.

Bristol, being a widely diverse, historical, and cultural city will offer children plenty of opportunity to learn about the local identity. Steeped in rich history, from Museums to ancient buildings and architecture, to theatres and libraries, the amenities available will be a great way to research and discover the cultural aspect.
