Savannah, GA: The Southeast’s sweet spot
December 22, 2014
Holiday trivia question: which is the busiest airport in the USA? LAX is second. Chicago ranks third. Which is number one? It’s Hartsfield Jackson in Atlanta, ranked as the busiest airport in the country according to a recent article in airport-technology.com. As a major hub for both domestic and international passenger flights, Atlanta is also a key market for commercial cargo.
In addition to the airport, commerce relies on Georgia’s fast-growing ports to move the goods in and out. The Port of Savannah, the largest single container terminal in North America, is raising the bar to meet the demands of an improving economy and changing demands from businesses and shipping lines. Without the drawbacks of harsh weather experienced by locations in the northeast, or the congestion and industrial disruptions experienced on the west coast, the Savannah location is ideally suited to reach a large number of markets with relative ease and speed. Strategically, it is in the sweet spot for commerce, cutting time to market and reducing costs.
This year is expected to be a bumper holiday season and companies are already planning for further improvements in 2015. With the infrastructure already in place, plus planned expansions, Georgia will be playing an important role in the way organizations coordinate their growth in the foreseeable future.
