Before I get sick, what should I know about seeking medical care in your city as an expat?
Upon arrival in Bahrain, it is suggested that expats do a little research on the hospitals in Bahrain. Two recommended hospitals are BDF Military Hospital and Awali Hospital. Ask Crown Bahrain for more information on selecting a hospital.
In emergency situations, expats would be treated under the national health scheme. There is usually a small charge of BD 3.000.
An expat will never be refused treatment if he or she does not have insurance. Payment will simply have to be made for all medical treatment received. If your company does not arrange for medical insurance on your behalf, it is recommended that you arrange for private insurance prior to your arrival. If that is not possible, there are also many well-reputed insurance companies in Bahrain.
