What are the items that I should bring with me because they’re not available (or are too expensive) where I am going?
In the Nashville metropolitan area, there is an abundance of shopping opportunities such as pharmacies supermarkets, department stores, and outdoor and indoor shopping centers (malls). With that said, anything you could possibly want or need is readily available at your fingertips. However, we do recommend that you bring enough prescription medication (if applicable and in case of an emergency) until you find a health care provider in the area.
You will not have any problems finding clothes to fit as most clothing stores carry a wide assortment of sizes. There are also many specialty shops for taller and larger people. To get a list of these stores, check in the local area phone book or the internet. If a garment needs to be fitted many of the local dry cleaners can provide tailoring services. Also, most suit shops provide fitting services as well.
There are many grocery stores to choose from. There are small family owned markets, smaller specialty markets and large chain stores such as Safeway. Depending on your personal preferences you should be able to find all of your favorite foods in the local area.
Household items can be found at most malls and in specific department stores. Large chains such as Wal-mart, Target and K-mart also sell a wide variety of household items.
For furniture needs, there are specific furniture stores that specialize in furniture from different countries and regions around the world. Department stores such as Macy's or JC Penney's carry furniture as well, but with a more limited selection.
Price is the number one factor when shopping. The only other factors are special needs and location. Keep in mind that some stores will not deliver items to you if you live too far from the store's location.
