What are the items that I should bring with me because they’re not available (or are too expensive) where I am going?
Nothing in particular comes to mind. There are stores supplying international foods and other items from all over the world in Geneva. In addition, there are American stores in nearby Nyon (20 minutes away by car) and Geneva city center, as well as a British minimarket in neighboring France (approx. 20 minutes away by car) and also an online store.

What are factors that might affect my shopping habits in this country/city?
The opening times of the shops and shopping centers are different than in some countries. Within the city, the shops close at 6:30 p.m. every night, 5 p.m. on Saturday and are closed on Sundays. The shopping malls have the same hours but late-opening is on Friday nights until 8 or 9 p.m. Please note that the shopping store in the train station (Aperto) is open every day of the year until 10 p.m., but prices are higher than in normal shops.

Keep the size and layout of your building in mind when purchasing furniture. If you live in a building without an elevator or with exceptionally narrow halls, you may need to pass large pieces of furniture through the window with the help of an outside elevator.
