Relocating Brits 'sealed' by the American dream
September 24, 2014
A recent survey by Royal Mail has revealed that the USA is the most popular country for people in the UK to emigrate to.
According to the postal service’s redirected mail figures during 2013 and 2014, the United States has topped the list for the second year running.
In the last twelve months, 16 per cent of Royal Mail’s international redirection arrangements were to the USA, out of 138 countries across the globe.
France still topped the list as the most popular European country in Royal Mail’s list, ahead of Spain, Germany and Ireland.
Old favourite Australia slipped to third place, receiving fewer mail redirection requests – even though it was the most popular destination in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Once popular destinations Dubai and Singapore didn’t seem to be as appealing to the relocating British population, both not even making it into the top ten.
Yet, you can see why the United States is so appealing to relocating Brits - whether it’s the non-stop lifestyle of New York, the glitz and glamour of LA, or even the chilled out beaches of Hawaii, you really can’t beat the USA when it comes to having something for everyone.
If you’re lucky enough to have skills that are in demand or can transfer to the States through an existing job then you’ll be at a distinct advantage. Find out more about moving to the USA here.
