Israel - Sponsor affidavit now required for all individual applications

An additional administrative step has been introduced for B-1 work permit applications. The sponsoring employer must now provide a Semech affidavit for each employee.

The Ministry of Interior defines the affidavit as a document highlighting the employer’s legal obligations toward the foreign employee and the state of Israel. It must be signed and submitted with each employee`s B-1 visa application. The affidavit must contain the following:

  • Employee`s details (name, passport and citizenship)
  • Certifcation (legalized by an Israeli lawyer or Israeli diplomatic mission – eventually notarized and apostilled)

Previously, only one Semech affidavit was required for all applications submitted by employers simultaneously.
