There is a growing expatriate community due to the continued growth of Raleigh's local bio –tech industry. This means that you will be able to find a variety of clubs, community groups and religious gatherings throughout and around the Raleigh area. Your best bet is to contact either your local consulate (if one is available), through friends or work colleagues or the local Chamber of commerce.
Most expatriates socialize with neighbors, colleagues, friends or family from home. Many find friends at the nearby country club or social club. Places of worship are another good place to meet people.
The local chamber of commerce and foreign consulates are great places to start gaining resources in your search for social connections within the community. There is also a large number of professional and social club activities listed in local newspapers and on the internet.
Numerous events for singles are offered during the week either at bars or hotels and there are plenty of single clubs and organizations that go out of their way to connect people of similar interests.
If you want to meet people of your own nationality it is a good idea to contact the local chamber of commerce or consulate, both of which tend to offer a wide variety of activities which you could be familiar with.
Accompanying partners can find opportunities via the Internet, through volunteerism and even through the connections that their working spouses make. They may also check the local consulates and chambers of commerce. Raleigh's expatriate population continues to grow and as such, additional networking opportunities will present themselves.
