With immediate effect, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Hyderabad requires companies sponsoring expatriates employed in Hyderabad to provide documentary proof of its operations within that jurisdiction. Applicants are required to submit relevant documents at the time of processing employment visa extension applications or FRRO registration. There has not been any formal announcement from the authorities.

Prior to the change, FRRO only required the registration certificate issued by the Registrar of Companies with the company’s registered address. The new requirement has an impact on companies with a registered address outside of Hyderabad. These companies are now required to provide additional documents issued by the government as evidence that the registered entity is operating in Hyderabad. These documents can be registered under the Shops and Establishment Act of Telangana State (which is a mandatory requirement for most entities) or any other relevant Telangana State Government body.

Companies sponsoring foreigners working in Hyderabad should be prepared to provide the additional documentation as requested. Crown will continue to follow new developments and provide updates to our clients.
