By what method are bills (such as rent and utilities) paid?
You can simply pay by check. In France, checking is free and widely accepted by companies and stores. Checking should be available to all holders of a bank account.

You can also pay by electronic transfer with a TIP (Titre Interbancaire de Paiement) payment order attached to your bill. The TIP was designed for payment through the mail and is convenient for paying recurring bills such as rent, water and electricity. When you first pay through this means, an RIB (bank identity slip) must be sent along with the TIP. Afterward, new TIPs only need to be signed and sent.
