I want my child to get the most out of our stay in this country. Are there any specific opportunities to teach young people about the local culture?

Living in China gives your children a unique opportunity to learn the Chinese language. If you let them play with Chinese kids, they can quickly learn the local language and culture. A fun way to learn about the culture is to participate in China's colorful festivals, such as the Chinese Spring Festival (Chun Jie) and of course the Lunar New Year, when you should remember to give them a red envelope with brand new Chinese money inside to bring them good luck.
