After more than seven years, the immigration authority of Argentina, Direccion Nacional de Migraciones (DNM), has ordered a significant increase (from 300 percent to 60,000 percent) to the rates paid by foreign nationals to enter and leave the country. United States nationals are exempt from this rate increase in response to the new measures taken by the U.S. Department of State to facilitate the ease with which Argentinian nationals can enter the U.S.. The exemption also recognizes the renewed cooperation between both countries.

Differentiated rates for Mercosur countries were also announced under Decree 959, which was issued on August 23, 2016.

This summary was prepared using information obtained from the DNM.
