What types of schools do most expats in your city choose for their children?
Most expats prefer to send their children to international (private) schools rather than local public schools. The best private schools are accredited and have waiting lists, so it is recommended that you begin your school search as soon as you arrive in the country. Contact Crown Kolkata for advice or contact your local consulate. It is also very helpful to start networking with other expatriates through groups and associations.

What are some examples of these schools?
There are a variety of international schools in Kolkata, but the most popular is The Calcutta International School, which is located on a quiet road midway between the main residential areas of Alipore and Ballygunge. The school works in close association with the British Council Division of the British High Commission, which is the overseas authority for conducting British University Examinations in India. The school caters to children from the age of three years up to the level of the University. For more information on schools in Kolkata, contact Crown Kolkata.
