Networking in London

How close-knit is the expat community in London? How do I get involved with it?

It is recommended that expatriates new to London actively pursue their interests (e.g. sport, hobbies) to meet and network with people. The expatriate community has a number of associations and networking groups, including Focus and American in Britain.

Beside expat groups, what is the best way to make social connections outside of work?

Because London has such a large multicultural population, you will probably meet many people of different backgrounds. There are a variety of fee-paying clubs, which offer great sporting facilities and events to participate in. Joining a gym or attending fitness or dance classes is also a great way to meet people. Joining social media sites like Facebook is also recommended, as these are great for joining up to groups and receiving regular updates and invites to things that you are interested in.

Where can I meet other singles in London?

You can meet singles in London through clubs/associations, dating agencies or by participating in the local nightlife. Also, signing up to shared activities, like sports teams, volunteering, foreign language classes or any other type of hobby are fantastic ways to meet like-minded people with similar interests.
