Describe typical public transportation an expat might use to get around the city.

The Metro bus is the public transportation system that Houstonians use to get around. This system is made up of local, commuter and shuttle routes, as well as a MetroLift for the disabled. For local routes throughout the city the typical fare is $1 and $2 for a one-day pass. Weekly, monthly and yearly passes are available for all services. The MetroRail, a 7.5-mile light rail system, links downtown, the Museum District, Texas Medical Center and Reliant Park.

Although this is possible via bus systems (Metro, Greyhound and other operators) most expats purchase their own vehicles.
