Getting to know our team: Latish Fatnani

We spoke to the General Manager of our Kenyan office, Latish Fatnani about his experience working for Crown and his top tips to help you plan your next international move.

How long have you been with Crown? Can you tell us more about your role?

I have been working with Crown for 13 years now, so a long time! I worked with Crown in India for five years and now eight years in Africa. These days I head up the mid-Africa region for Crown and have expertise in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria.

What’s the most common question clients ask you?

It’s all about how long things take. The timeline for delivering goods in the destination country – and the cost involved.

Have you yourself moved internationally? If so, where did you move from and what was your experience?

I moved from India to Kenya, and it was a very good experience for us because Crown arranged a preview trip and orientation tour which really helped us to settle in quickly. It made it easier to find housing and schools for our daughter. We’ve been here in Kenya for eight years now, and it feels like home.

What would be your number one tip for anyone preparing to live and work abroad?

Living and working abroad is never a straight forward process, look for professional support such as Crown to help you with your move and make sure things run smoothly.

What is the most unusual move you have supported?

I assisted a family who were stuck in the UK during the pandemic, and they could not travel back to Kenya to move their belongings because of a sudden international travel ban. With the help of our efficient online solutions, we assisted the client with a remote survey and packing of goods in their residence in Kenya and then sent the goods via sea to the UK. The client was very happy as they did not have to travel back to Kenya and received their shipment safely in the UK.

What’s the moment in your Crown career that has made you the proudest?

Customer feedback means so much to the team. We take a lot of pride into the work we deliver and recognition goes along way.

What’s the most unusual item you have ever helped a client move?

Believe it or not, it was a one- tonne generator! I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.

If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I would choose the USA for my next move if I could. My family and I love the USA as it provides so many opportunities.
