How close-knit is the expat community in this area? How do I get involved with it?
Beside expat groups, what is the best way to make social connections outside of work?
Where can I meet other singles in this city?
Are there any unique networking opportunities for accompanying partners?
The expat community in the Metroplex is not as close-knit as in other cities. There are, however, several organizations that arrange meetings for expats who have similar interests. The local Chambers of Commerce can also provide information.
Many expats socialize with colleagues from work and with neighbors. Local country clubs or neighborhood clubs offer venues to meet new friends. Most churches also offer organized groups where expats can make new acquaintances.
Local nightclubs and bars are good places to meet other singles. Organized church groups are another option. Some local radio stations also advertise websites or phone numbers for singles introduction services.
If you have children, schools are a good way for partners to network with other parents. In addition, partners can network through local social clubs.
