As at 2015, there are 119 shopping malls in Istanbul. Istinye Park, Akmerkez, Kanyon and Metro City are all popular with expats. There are also specialist industrial style shopping districts for home furnishings plus the famous shopping bazaars, offering a variety of products that must be experienced.

What are factors that might affect my shopping habits in this country/city? 

Since Turkey is a Muslim country, pork is either difficult to find or prohibitively expensive. Although widely available, alcohol is heavily taxed so expensive compared with Europe. Shop staff rarely speak a foreign language.
