Washington, D.C. tops list of America’s coolest cities

Washington, D.C is the heartbeat of America’s government; when you think of the nation’s capital, you probably think of politicians, representatives and the work involved in keeping the United States moving forward. But cool? Would you describe Washington, D.C. as cool?
 
A 2014 Forbes poll not only rates Washington, D.C. as cool, but as the top of the coolest cities in America. Why is that?
Washington, D.C. offers many diverse cultural and scenic activities. Our nation’s rich history is documented in many of our museums and historic landmarks all through the region. Visitors come from all over the world to see the White House and the U.S. Capitol building. They’re drawn to the many monuments (Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial) and the world-class museums, such as the Smithsonian. The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and many of the museums offer free admission, making it affordable for family fun days.

Nature lovers will enjoy visiting the city’s many parks and hiking trails through scenic canals within minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. White water rafting is less than an hour away and there are many wineries along the scenic routes.  Foodies love that D.C is home to an excellent array of restaurants, ranging from the best “Top Chef” restaurants to the local famous Ben’s Chile Bowl. It’s an area of nonstop entertainment, with concerts in front of the nation’s capital and sporting venues with all your favorite sports.
