Getting to know our team: Joshua John-Hector

We spoke to our Sales Consultant, Joshua John-Hector about his experience working for Crown Relocations and his top tips to help you plan your next international move.

Tell us about your role at Crown.

My role focuses on supporting customers after they’ve had the physical or virtual consultation to assess the volume of their shipment. I’ll confirm the quotation and prepare the service proposal, answering any questions that may arise along the way.

Can you tell us about one of the most memorable moves you supported?

As a boxing fan, supporting Amir Kahn and Faryal Makhdoom’s move was a standout moment. Throughout my time at Crown I’ve worked with quite a few high profile moves with customers ranging from footballers and actresses to diplomats. Those moves are always fun to support.

What has been the highlight from your time at Crown so far?

The highlight for me so far was last July when I hit my record for the most customer moves I supported in a single month. It was a great personal achievement for me to push myself and show how determined I could be.

What piece of advice would you give to anyone planning their first international move?

International moves are always going to come with challenges whether you’re a seasoned mover or not. I recommend using a relocations company for support, use their experience to your advantage. They’ll be able to answer questions about moving internationally you probably hadn’t considered.

At Crown we have a lot of expats in the team who have been where our customers are. There are also always so many things to consider when moving internationally like immigration and travel plans, so using a reputable company to move your items is one less thing to worry about on your list of many things to consider!

Tell us about an unusual relocation request and how you made it happen

The most unusual move has to be when I worked with a client sending his belongings to a remote small island near the Philippines. We did not know how we were going to get it over to the island as we had never been there before. By utilising our large partner network we are able to coordinate with the customer and get the goods delivered safely and to the delight of the customer!

What do customers not often think about when planning their move?

Customers often don’t consider the access we’ll need to their property when our crews arrive to their property at origin and destination. They also don’t think about the items they’re packing and what complications they can have when the goods arrive at customs. Moving is stressful enough without this oversight! I would always suggest the client has a virtual survey done prior to the move to make sure we can make the relocation as simple as possible.

If you could plan your own international move, where would you go?

If I could choose anywhere to move to it would have to be somewhere in the Caribbean for their beautiful palm-lined beaches, coral reefs, clear lagoons and relaxed lifestyle.
