Money doesn’t always talk when you move, but your talent does!

On March 11, 2019, the official website of the Australian Immigration and Citizenship Office published the latest Skilled Occupations list, with major updates to the 9 main lists. Among them, 36 new occupations were added to the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189), which is relevant for students today, specifically international students.

This is great news for international students because they mainly immigrate using the Skilled Independent Visa! Let's take a look at the occupations that have been added to this new update.

Occupations such as arts administrator/manager, dancer, music director, musician (instrumental) and artistic director were added to the list which will give art students the opportunity to  immigrate to Australia.

Other professions such as statistician, economist, mining engineer, petroleum engineer and other engineering jobs were also added to the list. Engineering professions have returned to the occupations list more recently because of the recovery of the Australian mining induustry.

There were in total 20 additions to the scientific occupations. Chemist, biotechnologist, and university lecturers, etc., reappeared on the occupations list of subclass 189. Thus, Australia has begun to focus on improving its strength in the sicence field and valuing scientific talents.

In order to promote Australia's competitive edge in the Internet era, multimedia specialist and programmer were added to the IT category, bringing new hope for IT professionals.

Horse trainer, tennis coach and footballer were also added to other categories, which opens up new territories for many migrants.
