What types of schools do most expats in your city choose for their children?
Some expats register their kids at private schools, such as the American School, International School of Turin (for English / American people) or Ecole Française (for French people). Others choose public schools, which the Italian children attend.
What are some examples of these schools?
Is there a lot of competition for spots in local schools?
In public schools there is competition to find a spot for your children. In private schools this does not occur.
Are pre-schools also widely available (for children approx. 2 to 5 years old)?
No, there are very few pre-schools in our city and they are not sufficient for all of the children who need to be registered.
How are most kids transported to and from school?
Parents bring the children to school. Very few schools have a private bus, so parents prefer to bring their children to school instead of letting them taking public transports (which is unsuitable for kids).
When does the typical school year start and end?
The typical school year starts in September (during the first 15 days) and ends in the first week of June.
Is there anything else I should know about local schools?
The summer vacation last for three months.
